Du’a (Prayer) Of The Allah’s Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) At The Time Of The Battle Of Badr :

Umar (Radi’Allahu Anhu) narrated, “On the occasion of the Battle of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) had a look at these Companions, who were a little more than three hundred, and the polytheists, who were more than one thousand. Then the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) turned towards the Qiblah. He was wearing a loin cloth and a sheet. Then he prayed :

“O ALLAH! Fulfill Thy promise which Thou hast done with me. O ALLAH! Shouldest Thou destroy this small band of Believers this day, no one will be left on the earth to worship Thee.”

He continuously repeated these words until his sheet fell down. Abu Bakr came to him and made him wear the sheet. Afterwards he (i.e. Abu Bakr) held him from his back and said, ‘O Messenger of ALLAH! It is enough for you to pray to your Lord on our behalf. Soon the promise, which was done with you, would be fulfilled.’ Then ALLAH revealed the following verse :

“[Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, “Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another.” {Surah Anfal # Verse 9}” [Transmitted By Imaam Ahmad: Muslim; Abu Dawud; Tirmidhi; Ibn Jarir; Al Bidayah vol-3, pg-275; Ibn Abi Shaibah; Ibn Hibban; Abu Naim; Ibn Abi Hatim; Baihaqi; Al Kanz vol-5, pg-266]

Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al Aas (Radi’Allahu Anhu) narrated, “The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) set out, on the occasion of the Battle of Badr, alongwith three hundred and fifteen persons. When he reached there, he prayed : ‘O ALLAH! They are without riding animals, provide riding animals for them. O ALLAH! They are without clothes, provide clothes for them. O ALLAH! They are hungry, provide meals for them.’ Then ALLAH made them victorious, and when they returned each of them was having one or two camels with him. They were also provided with the clothes and the meals as well.” [Transmitted by Abu Dawud; Jama’ Al Fawa’id vol-2, pg-38; Baihaqi vol-9, pg-57; Ibn Sa’ad vol-2, pg-13]

Ibn Mas’ud (Radi’Allahu Anhu), “I never heard imploring Muhammad (Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)) in a way as I saw him on the occasion of Badr. He was praying :

‘O ALLAH! I pray Thee earnestly by Thy Pledge and Promise. Shouldest Thou destroy this small band of Believers this day, no one will be left on earth to worship Thee.’ Afterwards he turned towards his people in such a condition that the side of his face was shinning like a full moon. He said : ‘I am seeing the places where the non-Believers will be killed by the evening.” [Transmitted by Nasaa’i; Al Bidayah vol-3, pg-276; Tabrani; Al Haithmi vol-6, pg-82.]
